Bolton's Money Skills Service

Bolton’s Money Skills Service provides free information, money guidance and training to give people the money skills, knowledge and confidence to help them take control of their finances and improve their money management skills.

We do this by:-

  • Group training workshops in local communities (some of which are AQA accredited)
  • Face to face personal budgeting
  • Debt and money advice
  • Fuel Debt and Energy Efficiency support

Who is it for: Age Range: For group training workshops age 5 upwards. Work with children done in conjunction with schools / community groups. Other services are for aged 18 and over.

Circumstances: Anyone who lives or works in Bolton. We have 2 officers who provide a Personal Budgeting Service (PBS) specifically for Universal Credit (UC) claimants.

Information required when applying for our service: Name, address and telephone number

For Budgeting and Debt cases some details re arrears, debts and family circumstances will be requested. Upon first appointment the customer will be asked to bring along paperwork relating to all income and expenditure but this would be explained over the phone or by letter.

Other information may be asked for for AQA (Assessment and Qualifications Alliance) certification purposes but this would be done at the first workshop.
