Birtenshaw Domiciliary Agency
Birtenshaw Domiciliary Agency is a registered charity (1092798). Our objective is to build a brighter future for young Adult with special needs. We are based in Bolton and run a special school and a number of specialist children’s homes, a Short Break and Positive Activity Centre and a range of health and therapeutic services. Our services support young adult with a significant physical disability, including complex health needs, Adult with a significant learning disability, including autistic spectrum disorder. Birtenshaw Domiciliary Agency specialist homes are based in ordinary family houses in the community. We offer full time or shared care, which can be on short or long term basis, in a homely, caring environment. Birtenshaw Domiciliary Agency Positive Activity Centre is based in our main building in Bromley Cross. Specialist health therapies such as physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, occupational therapy, rebound therapy, speech and language therapy and sensory integration therapy enhance the quality of life experience for every service user. Our dedication to creating a brighter future for Adult with special needs is based on the notion of ‘ordinary life principles’. Young Adult with a significant physical and/or learning disability are often excluded from activities others take for granted. We believe that disabled people should have the benefit of the same learning and social opportunities as all other people. We have currently completed a new state of the art special school. It was fully operational from September 2012. The new school includes a range of classroom sizes enabling individual, paired or small group learning environments. There is a county height sports hall and gym, health and hydrotherapy suite, a range of light and dark sensory rooms, IT and library facilities, a play safe room and a fully kitted out flat where young people can learn independent living skills.
