    Bolton NEWT returns to Leverhulme Park for the third year of Balsam bashing. As part of our management plan we have returned to the same areas at Leverhulme Park every year to ensure eradication of the invasive species Himalayan balsam also known as Indian Balsam. The management involves handing out big sticks (not sharp) and then whacking the balsam down to it's lowest node, it involves lots of destruction while at the same time helping nature as the plant chokes out the light
