We support young people with an EHCP (previously a statement of special educational need for their social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, SEBD). We work primarily with the pupils of Lever Park Special School, their families and carers where we provide a breakfast club, access to the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme, Bowens relaxation therapy, mentoring, and some specialist equipment. The Aspirations project was formed in 1999 to provide social and leisure activities for individuals with Asperger Syndrome and High Functioning Autism. The project is open to people from the age of 10 years and upwards – with no upper age limit. The majority of people accessing the service are aged between 10 and 30. To date, over 500 people have attended our activities. Breaking Barriers aims to support Disabled children and young people (aged 0-25) and adults with Autism (aged 18+) and their families to challenge and remove barriers to inclusion. BBNW have a strong strategic presence in Bolton and act as parent reps with Bolton Parent Carers Forum and the Bolton Together Consortium. We work closely with other organisations across the borough and widely share information and good practice.
